Need advice for a friend who is a makeup artist.

She's been in this line of industry for 7 years and hasn't gone anywhere with it yet. She is trying to make a business out of it but isn't making anywhere near the amount of money she could be making if she quit and just got into a corporate gig.

She doesn't have enough clients to make enough money yet. She has about 1,500 followers on Instagram, while her friend who got into the industry more recently than her and has over 10,000 followers. A lot of "known" clients don't want to pay because there are so many makeup artists who will do the work for free just to say that they worked with that "famous person", and so it is a very competitive market, there is a lot of competition, famous Instagram makeup pages, and etc.

I was wondering if any of you had any suggestions on what she could do, books to read, different ways to approach this line of work, try new things or enter new niches, or any suggestions on what she could try differently?

Thanks in advance.
